Your role as Legal Counsel

As a Legal Counsel you will get a challenging role in a dynamic environment and be part of the Finance & Legal team. As Shypple grows, we are extending our legal department and are therefore looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and independent new colleague.

In this role you will provide day-to-day legal support to the business, investors and the supervisory board on different matters related to Shypple’s international business operations, joint ventures, as well as compliance with national and international legislation.

Within Shypple, you will also be actively involved in investments, transactions, mergers and acquisitions (M&As) and you will be a leader pertaining to due diligence procedures and integration with newly acquired companies.
You will effectively manage Shypple’s overall corporate governance and remain a high profile on the company’s reliability, integrity and transparency.

Every day looks different in this role and you will be facing different subjects in the field of law. You are not only involved in our Rotterdam activities, but also Belgium and China. You will be working from our headquarters in Rotterdam and you will report to our CFO and CEO.

What you’ll be doing

  • Review, negotiate, draft and advise on commercial contracts;

  • Advise our management team on legal and strategic matters;

  • Act as Project Manager in M&A transactions and due diligence procedures;

  • Coordinate with external company counsel and assist in legal matters that cannot be handled in-house;

  • Be a valuable business partner for the various departments within Shypple dealing with legal affairs - ensure that proposed activities, policies, business practices and transactions comply with laws and regulations.


What you’ll bring

  • Masters degree in (Dutch) Law, preferably in commercial- or corporate law;

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience. Experience with VC funding and M&A will be considered a big plus

  • Good knowledge of Dutch Corporate Law

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English. Speaking Dutch is an advantage;

  • You are able to translate the business’ requirements in straightforward legal advice, never losing sight of integrity and quality. Pragmatism, intelligence, proactiveness, creativity, and a drive for results are what we are looking for in a legal counsel business support.
